All the scars on the face of my son, who had fallen into a pot of boiling oil, were completely cleansed in 20 days!

Soo-hyun Kim (New Kwangju Manmin Church)

Saturday, January 28, 2006 / Jae-woo falls into a pot of boiling oil

On Saturday, January 28, 2006, one day before the Chinese New Year, I was busy with preparing food for the holiday at my mother-in-law's house in Haenam, Southern Jeon-la Province. While returning from the bathroom with my older son Jae-hyuk, I heard the bawling cry of my younger son Jae-woo.
When I sprinted towards Jae-woo, I saw that the baby walker in which he was seated had tipped over the kitchen doorsill and Jae-woo had fallen headfirst into a pot of boiling oil. As my husband (Chul Lee) hurriedly tried to lift up Jae-woo, half of whose face was already submerged in the oil, the baby slipped out of his hands and fell into the boiling oil one more time.
Right then, my mother-in-law Senior Deaconess Mal-jin Kim (Mokpo Manmin Church) poured the Muan Sweet Water on Jae-woo's head. As you know, the Muan Sweet Water was transformed from bitter seawater into sweet, potable water by the prayer of Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee and has been manifesting all kinds of healing to countless people. We also had Jae-woo receive the Senior Pastor's "Prayer for the Sick" recorded on an automated telephone message.

3:00 P.M., Saturday, January 28, 2006 / Heading to Seoul and receiving Rev. Dr. Lee's prayer

It was such a dire situation that at the advice of my mother-in-law, we headed to Seoul to meet with Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee.
The surface of Jae-woo's face had been peeled off and cooked. Tears streamed down my cheeks each time I saw the large vesicles on his forehead, eyes, upper lips, and scalp, the pieces of skin with capillary vessels showing under the rolled-up cuticles, and his severely swollen left eye.
On the way to Seoul, all of us were amazed at how Jae-woo did not seem to feel any pain, cry, or fret after receiving the "Prayer for the Sick"; he actually seemed quite comfortable. He was, however, unable to eat any food.
After a three-and-a-half-hour trip, we were able to meet with the Senior Pastor who was at his residence for the Chinese New Year. When he saw Jae-woo's disfigured face, the Senior Pastor seemed even more heartbroken than I was. He gently placed his hand on Jae-woo's head and prayed for him in the minutest detail.

"Drive away the burning sensation. Prevent the baby from becoming infected with any bacteria. Allow for the wounds to be healed. Father God, make the baby whole again. Let Your light come upon him! I pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."

At the moment, I felt the love of the Senior Pastor rushing into my heart. Immediately after receiving his prayer, Jae-woo started eating.
On our way home to Kwangju, Jae-woo slept comfortably, ate well, and was playful.

Repenting of our past, committing everything to God

Through this incident, my husband and I came to learn and realize so much. At the time, we hadn't been keeping the Lord's Day holy and giving God the whole tithes because we were "so busy." In addition, we repented of not having recognized the love of Our God who had watched over us in a car accident last fall, in which none of us were injured. It had been a "wake-up call" from God, telling us to renew our commitment in Him, but we had chosen to ignore it.
Jae-woo's left eye was severely swollen and there was a chance he could lose his sight. When we checked on him the next day, however, we saw that the swelling had gone down and the eyeball seemed as normal as ever. Yet, Jae-woo's lips were still very much swollen that the lips' lining could not be distinguished.
Concerned family members, neighbors, and friends questioned whether it was such a good idea not to take Jae-woo to the hospital. As the news of the Senior Pastor's manifestations of God's power had settled in as faith in our hearts, my husband and I only wanted to commit everything to God. Of course, we repented in tears, begging for His mercy.

Friday, February 3 / Scabs formed over Jae-woo's face and head 6 days after the accident

As we held fast to our faith in this chain of events, God saw and recognized our faith, and did His work in the most obvious way. Blisters could have developed and oozing or pus could have infected the wounds, but as soon as blisters and oozing dried, scabs began forming over Jae-woo's face and head. Six days after the accident by Friday, February 3, 2006, scabs had developed over much of Jae-woo's face.
Before the Friday All-night Service, we brought Jae-woo to the Senior Pastor to receive his prayer one more time. When he said, "God healed the baby's eye first so that he wouldn't lose his sight," delighted in the healing progress, and prayed earnestly for our son, all we could do was praise and give thanks for the love of Our God and the shepherd.

Friday, February 10 / Scabs fall off the wounds as new flesh develops

The work of healing afterwards was even faster. Scabs formed over the left half of Jae-woo's face and new flesh developed underneath the scabs. Dried scabs began falling off piece by piece and by February 10, less than two weeks after the accident, all the scabs over Jae-woo's face except for the forehead fell off. As my mother-in-law, my husband, many other brothers and sisters in Christ, and I saw the new flesh developing and the scabs falling off so rapidly, we could only rejoice and give glory to the Living God.

Friday, February 17 / 20 days later, Jae-woo's face is without a single scar

By Friday, February 17, 2006, less than three weeks after the accident, all the remaining scabs fell off Jae-woo's face, which now has fairer and clearer skin than the time before the accident. Hallelujah!
After personally experiencing God's power manifested by Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee with Jae-woo, my husband and I have no choice but to believe in the Father. We have gained the faith to keep the Lord's Day holy, attend all worship services, worship God at home with our family, and give Him whole tithes in gratitude.
We seek to become God's faithful workers, never forgetting the grace of the One who has healed Jae-woo. We give all thanks and glory to the almighty God for healing Jae-woo in a such a short amount of time that transcends man's common sense, and we would also like to express our deepest appreciation to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee for his heartfelt prayer.

Fw: 73-I've been healed of a variety of diseases in the comfort of my motherland and in the love of Our Lord

I've been healed of a variety of diseases in the comfort of my motherland and in the love of Our Lord

Deaconess Hak-gi Yoon (68 years of age, 2-7th Parish, 4-3rd Women's Mission)

Losing both parents in China and living a long and difficult life

In 1942, my parents and I left behind our hometown of Sun-san, Kyung-sang Buk-do for Shenyang, China. When both of my parents died prematurely, I got married at the age of 18.
In 1968, just as I had turned 30, I lost my husband in an unexpected accident. After his death, I led a difficult life raising a son and a daughter.
From extreme poverty and a variety of physical work I undertook, I constantly suffered from stress, migraine, vomiting, and when I was startled even a little, I felt the tightness around my heart. In addition, my stomach kept hurting after an operation on my spleen. The weaker I grew physically, the more and more I missed home.
'I'll go home now,' I thought to myself. 'There, I'll spend the rest of days in comfort.'

Finally coming home but still suffering

In 1991 and at the age of 53, I came back to my motherland after nearly half a century. Against my hopes and plans, however, difficulties continued.
While working at a restaurant one time, I fell and had to walk with a limp. A little later, I collapsed while coming down a flight of stairs and the excruciating pain in my ankles constantly kept me up at night. When my eyesight deteriorated rapidly, I went to the hospital for an evaluation. I was diagnosed with cataract and first operated on my left eye. When a lump was discovered in my uterus, I had to schedule a date for another operation.
As I saw my room full of all kinds of medication whose names I didn't even know and myself utterly broken, I wasn't sure if there had ever been any happy moments in my life.

'They say there is heaven. I'll believe in Jesus and live a comfortable life.'

Then my younger sister, Deaconess Sook-ja Yoon, who had been leading a life in Christ at a Manmin branch church in China, visited me in Korea and preached the gospel to me with Rev. Doo-chun Shin in charge of the "Chinese Grand Parish."

"Heaven surely exists and it's such a beautiful place without tears, grief, or torment. When you have faith, you can be healed of any diseases!"

I then thought to myself, 'They say there is heaven, a place without tears, grief, or torment. I'll believe in Jesus and live a comfortable life there!' and joined Manmin Joong-ang Church.
Upon first coming to Manmin in April 2004, the magnificent main sanctuary and the performances of the choir and the Nissi Orchestra made me feel like I was already in heaven. The message of Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee was teeming with grace and gave me true comfort.

'Why have I come so late to such a wonderful church?!'

Afterwards, I made every effort to live by God's Word and strove to spread the news of the Living God to people who found themselves in a similar situation as mine. I am still thankful to this day for the thoughtful consideration of the Senior Pastor, who has provided for Chinese parish members "The House of Holiness," a place where Chinese parish members could have fellowship and rest with one another.

Receiving healing of cataract and other diseases

In May 2004 was "The 12th Two-week Special Revival Meeting with Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee." I attended the Meeting where I saw countless people testifying to their healing after receiving Rev. Dr. Lee's prayer.

'I'm going to receive God's healing by faith!'

I'd been working as a maid but I quit the job so that I could attend the Revival Meeting every day. In fervent prayer, I asked for healing as I stopped taking all the medication and offered God all the money I had been saving for my operation.
During the second week of the Revival Meeting, Rev. Dr. Lee prayed for the sick from the pulpit.

"All kinds of diseases, go away! Let God's light shine here!"

The moment I received his prayer, I felt as though my back had caught on fire and I soon began experiencing all kinds of miraculous things. I could begin to see objects clearly through my right eye that had been so dim because of cataract. Furthermore, the vomiting and the cardiac disorder I felt each morning, as well as the lump in my uterus had all disappeared. Hallelujah!

My lachrymal glands have opened for the first time in 51 years!

In gratitude for God's grace, I began fervently praying for the Senior Pastor who continue to proclaim the Word of life and my family members. Then I had another wondrous experience.
One day in December 2004, I attended a district prayer meeting and the parish pastor prayed for me with the handkerchief on which the Senior Pastor had prayed. The Holy Spirit set my body on ablaze as I began rending my heart in repentance and shed tears without knowing when to stop. I was dumbfounded when I couldn't shed tears at the funerals of my parents and husband years earlier, but I realized that for the first time in 51 years, my lachrymal glands opened. I was also perfectly healed of arthritis in both of my legs. That night, for the first time in a very, very long while, I could sleep comfortably without waking up even once.

The blessing of birth for my son and daughter-in-law

I always thought of ways to pay God back for giving me healing free of charge as well as hopes for heaven. I soon found the answer in distributing the copies of Manmin Joong-ang News so that countless people being tormented in this world from disease could be healed and saved.
I also testified the God I met to my family members and relatives whenever I met with them. God was delighted with my faith and blessed my family with evangelization, and my son, daughter, nieces, granddaughters, and even in-laws who had witnessed my healing joined Manmin Joong-ang Church.
Furthermore, while my son Soo-duk Jeon and his wife had been childless for the first three years of their marriage, they received the blessing of birth after receiving prayer from the Senior Pastor. They gave birth to a healthy girl last December.
I give all thanks and glory to my Father God for showing me His infinite love and healing me of all kinds of diseases, and also express my deepest appreciation to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee for his earnest prayer.

Fw: 72-Our only child collided with a large SUV but she walked out of the accident scene unscathed.

Our only child collided with a large SUV but she walked out of the accident scene unscathed.

Psalm 121:5 "The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand."

Deaconess Chan-hye Park (Muan Manmin Church)

"Screeeeeech~ Bang!"
"Ju-eun, noooooooo!"

On our way to a market on Wednesday, January 11, 2006, my family was involved in a car accident. Our five-year-old daughter Ju-eun had let go of her father's hand, run ahead of us and onto the road, and was struck by a speeding SUV on the crosswalk.
For a moment I couldn't see anything but I soon composed myself. My husband and I began looking for Ju-eun, who miraculously walked out from underneath the car. All she did was to drop onto the ground and began crying.

"Are you okay, Ju-eun? Are you hurt?"

We looked here and there for any scrapes or wounds but except for her clothes having been dirtied, Ju-eun was completely fine. One of her pink sneakers that had apparently come off her foot and flown behind the SUV was the only witness to the incredible event that had just taken place.

Ju-eun walked out from underneath the car and began crying

At the urging of the dumbfounded driver of the SUV and the speechless bystanders, we took Ju-eun to a nearby hospital for MRI and CT scans but the doctor couldn't find anything wrong with her. After reviewing the scan results, he thought the accident had been a minor collision. When he heard of what had really happened, the doctor couldn't believe what he was seeing and could only say, "The gods must've been with this little girl." I guess he wanted to express that some force beyond the might of man had been watching over our daughter.
He also advised that Ju-eun might wake up in the middle of the night with convulsions. So I put Ju-eun to sleep after having her receive Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee's "Prayer for the Sick" recorded on the automated telephone message. Ju-eun was fast asleep as if nothing had happened to her earlier that day.

"God has saved the daughter He has given us!"

For my family was well aware of the birth of Ju-eun, we could only magnify God and rejoice in Him.

Ju-eun born five years into the marriage after receiving the prayer of blessing

I married my husband in 1997 but as I was suffering from the sequela of intestinal tuberculosis at the time, I was unable to conceive. After receiving Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer by faith on the television screen, however, I gave birth to Ju-eun in May 2002, five years after our wedding.
Through Ju-eun's accident, I repented of having failed to live by the Word, become lax in my prayer life, and grumbled against and not having served my husband (Deacon Tae-wan Kim) faithfully on account of my having been ill. The accident served as a precious opportunity by which we became a peaceful family.
I give all thanks and glory to God for giving us such a beautiful daughter and protecting her every moment, and also give my heartfelt thanks to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee for harboring our family in his prayer.

Fw: 71-A Story of a Family Abounding in Love and Blessing

A Story of a Family Abounding in Love and Blessing

Deaconess Jin-young Lee (5-21 st Parish, 2-5 Women's Mission)

I was born in Kwangju, Kyong-ki Province and attended mission schools but lived much of my life without any particular spiritual experience. I married my entrepreneur husband in 1984 and began looking for a church after having been evangelized by my mother-in-law. At the time, my husband had been attending church but did not possess true faith.

Led to Manmin after My Husband's Business Bankrupted

When a massive financial crisis swept through much of Asia in the late 1990s, my husband's business was caught in its effect and subsequently bankrupted. In the ensuing days and months after this abrupt change in my life, I struggled to make ends meet everyday.
Then in February 1998, I registered at Manmin Joong-ang Church and gained hope in life as I listened to Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee's messages during the early days of my life in Christ.
I met the living God in the lives of brothers and sisters in Christ who were healed of a variety of diseases and in the testimonies of those who received His answers in the most difficult and desperate of situations. From the depths of my heart flowed joy and gratitude.
After some time, along with the wife of my husband's younger brother Deaconess In-sook Park, I began imploring to God in tears for an opportunity to spread the gospel of sanctification in the Yichon area I was living at the time. While it was possible to attend Friday All-night and Sunday Services at the main sanctuary in Seoul, the Yi-chon area was in need of a branch sanctuary where people could gather for the Daniel Prayer Meeting and Wednesday Evening Services.
My husband readily lent us his empty office and Deaconess Park and I met there every night to pray together.

Blessings in Flesh and Spirit as We Strove for Establishment of a Branch Sanctuary

Then on April 29, 1999, the Yi-chon Branch Sanctuary was founded. After offering God the Founding Service in unspeakable joy and gratitude, I endeavored to give Him the "Construction Offering" despite the difficult financial situations at home.
God was delighted with our small devotion and beginning in 2000, He began blessing my husband's business and allowed it to recover. In addition, God led the members of my immediate and extended family to Manmin and has nurtured them into spiritual warriors.
The youngest sister of my husband, Pastor Mi-jung Cho is currently serving the church as parish pastor, a cousin of my husband Pastor Young-sook Cho as assistant parish pastor, and the oldest sister of my husband Deaconess Mi-ja Cho as prayer devotee and a member of the Evangelization Brigade. Deaconess In-sook Park, chosen to serve as district leader this year, received the "Best Sub-district Leader Award of 2005" in the 21 st Parish while I am serving the church as a cell leader and one of the commanders on the Evangelization Brigade.
All such blessings have been made possible because of my mother-in-law Deaconess Yeon-keum Kim's unceasing prayer and fasting throughout more than 40 years of her life in Christ. I'm truly grateful to lead a Christian life alongside the 23 members of my extended family.

Overflowing Blessings at Home and Business

On the spot where my husband's office was located – the same office he had lent Deaconess Park and me to pray for the Yi-chon branch sanctuary – God worked for the construction of an apartment complex to take place.
Then on January 16, 2005, all our family had an opportunity to greet Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, who has taught us true happiness through his messages of life, and received his prayer of blessing. "As much as they have sown and done, bless all their family. Bless their workplaces also."
After receiving prayer, my husband participated in the construction of other apartment projects and prior to the completion of construction, almost all of the 418 units were sold.

God remembered the deeds of my husband and blessed him; He was always a faithful son to her mother, helped his siblings in every way he could, and looked after others by giving relief his neighbors and presenting scholarships to deserving students. Today, his firm is one of the steadiest construction companies in the Yi -chon area and has even been reported by the media. Our second son Byong-chul came in first place at a recent high-school golf tournament. Hallelujah!
After participating "The 28-day Special Prayer Meeting" held late last year, the oldest sister of my husband Deaconess Mi-ja Cho was able to sell her house she had purchased for about US $30,000 at about US $125,000, while her husband Deacon Dong-yong Park received the blessing of having his salary multiplied after his diligent work.
I give all thanks and glory to God and also give my heartfelt thanks to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee for nurturing all of us with his messages and prayer.

Fw: 70-My body that had turned into a log from cerebral hemorrhage has been healed!

My body that had turned into a log from cerebral hemorrhage has been healed!

Deaconess Young-shim Lee (5-17 th Parish, 2-3 Women's Mission)

To me nowadays, everything looks beautiful and everyone is precious. This is because, until not too long ago, I was at the doorstep of death but am now leading a renewed life after having been healed by God's power.

No Hope of Recovery after Collapsing from Cerebral Hemorrhage

On April 19, 2005, the back of my head began hurting and it was nearly impossible to keep my head up while preparing breakfast. Then all of a sudden everything in my sight became dim and began spinning. I did all I could to keep steady but ended up losing consciousness.
I later found out that my mother-in-law and younger son Young-min had called for an ambulance and I was carried to an intensive care unit at Daelim Saint Mary's Hospital in Daelim-dong, Young-deung-po District, where I was diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage.

"She has no chance of recovery," said a doctor after evaluating my condition. Even if she does recover, she'll lose her speech and be paralyzed on one side of her body."

Just as the doctor predicted, I remained on the hospital bed unconscious with my arms and legs paralyzed, pretty much like a log.
Upon hearing the news, my mother, two sisters, and sister-in-law began clinging to God in repentance on my behalf and rending their own hearts in repentance as well. For they had seen time and again the countless works of healing manifested through Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, my family believed that God would heal me.

Regaining Consciousness by Prayer

With the aid of my family on Friday, April 22, I was carried to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee by ambulance and received his prayer. "God, work in her so that she'll regain consciousness!"
I learned later that after finishing his prayer, the Senior Pastor said to me, "Wake up right away," and in firm conviction of God's answer and my recovery, my family immediately took all necessary steps for me to be discharged from the hospital. Upon returning home, I realized that I had somehow regained consciousness, and two days later I could feel that I had enough strength to lift my fingers.
On the morning of Sunday, April 24, I received another prayer from the Senior Pastor, who was even more brokenhearted at my suffering than ever before. After earnestly imploring to God for my recovery, he said to me, "Wake up soon." The very next morning, I began lifting my fingers, none of which I could even move until the day before, and I was given strength to stand up on my own the following day.

Rending My Heart in Repentance

By the consolation and prayer of Grand Parish Pastor Joong-won Lee, Parish Pastor Jeon-hwan Cha, and members of my district, I discovered I had relied on people and worldly methods more than God and such untruths were in me as a sense of attachment for others, greed, tendency to become hot-tempered, and anger.
When Elder Ik-sun Yoo told me to "Get up and walk," after worshipping together with him and when I obeyed, I was given strength in the legs and could begin taking steps. Yet, I developed thrombus in my left leg and learned after another evaluation that the vessels in my chest and legs were clogged.
Committing everything to God, I began looking for the sins I had committed from my heart and my thought. I also searched my heart to see whether or not I had sinned when one of Korea's broadcasting companies made a distorting and biased report against Manmin back in 1999.
I thoroughly rent my heart in repentance for merely having been an onlooker and not aided the church and the senior pastor even though I was a church worker, for having disappointed God as I doubted and asked myself, 'Why are such things happening to our church?' And finally I realized that all that was an expression of God's love that seeks to lead me to New Jerusalem.

By His Power, I am Whole Again!

On April 30, 2005, all my family prepared ourselves with fasting and offering, and received the Senior Pastor's prayer for the third time.

"Strengthen all organs in the body, and strength all the brain cells and nerves. May God's light dwell on her!"

I felt a strong flame of fire striking my body at the time of the prayer. I realized that on the way home, the pain in my left leg had disappeared and that I could straighten it and walk comfortably. Hallelujah!
My older son Young-doo couldn't contain himself from amazement. "The Senior Pastor's power is truly astonishing. I saw with my own eyes and experienced firsthand what I had only heard about!" As I repented each time I was reminded of my sins after my healing, God strengthened me more and more and I could soon resume my God-given duty as district leader.
This past January, I underwent a CT and MRI to give glory to God with accurate medical data, and their results revealed that I have been made whole again. The driver of the ambulance that took me to the hospital when I collapsed could only confess, "It's unbelievable that you're well again only after receiving a pastor's prayer. What a wonderful mystery!" The doctor who had diagnosed me with cerebral hemorrhage could only be dumbfounded.
I give all thanks and glory to my Father the living God who causes all things to work together for good, and also give heartfelt thanks to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee for praying for me in his love.

My Son's Appendicitis Has Been Healed Not by Surgery but by God's Power!

"I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me" (Proverbs 8:17).

Deacon Joon-hyuk Kim (Music teacher, Sa-pa Elementary School, Masan City)

Beginning on Saturday, November 5, 2005, my son Young-ho, a 6th-grader, began vomiting, came down with a high fever, and complained of a stomachache. As he confessed his faith in God and wished to receive Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee's "Prayer for the Sick" recorded on the automated telephone message. Young-ho's condition seemed to improve each time he received the "Prayer" but he didn't make a complete recovery.
My wife and I looked back at our Christian lives as we listened again to the Senior Pastor's series on "The Message of the Cross." We repented of not having led zealous and passionate Christian lives that were pleasing in His sight.
A week passed and my wife and I noticed that Young-ho's right abdomen had swollen and become hardened. On Saturday, November 12, we took him to a nearby hospital for sonography. The doctor diagnosed Young-ho with appendicitis and told us that unless he was operated immediately, our son's condition would take a turn for the worse. However, remembering Young-ho's confession of faith, I told the doctor, "We are Christian and we seek to be healed by God's power." He advised us that too much time had already passed and told us to come back if Young-ho became worse.
After speaking with Rev. Sang-tae Kim on the phone and receiving his prayer that evening, all three of us could have a good night's sleep. The next day, we received the Senior Pastor's "Prayer for the Sick" on the television screen and a little later, we realized that Young-ho's fever and stomachache had disappeared. Hallelujah!
On that Sunday, Young-ho said he was hungry, asked for some food, and ate it very well. He even exercised by climbing up and down three flights of stairs. As my wife and I saw all this, we were convinced Young-ho had been perfectly healed.
On Monday, November 14, we went back to the hospital for another evaluation. "My goodness," the doctor was stunned. "Appendicitis has completely disappeared! How could this be? Wow, he must be one really powerful pastor!" Even he ended up recognizing the power of God. Hallelujah!

Fw: 68-God Has Pulled Me Out of a Swamp of Depression

God Has Pulled Me Out of a Swamp of Depression

Deacon Sea-sup Shim (2-6th Parish, 1-1 Men's Mission)

On the Verge of Committing Suicide in Depression

When a financial crisis swept through Korea as well as much of Asia back in 1998, I risked a great deal of money in stock investment too recklessly. A little later, I had lost not only the principle but also the money others had given me and put me in charge of for their own investment; I was soon sitting on a pile of debt.
In an attempt to recover from the loss, I frequented the trading floor and focused all my energy on it day and night. Yet, the outcome was an increasing debt: I had lost all the money my girlfriend had saved up for the wedding, my brother-in-law's workmen's compensation, and my mother's retirement fund. I felt like I was trapped in a hole I couldn't get out of and ended up coming down with depression, insomnia, and gastraneuria.
I wanted to give up everything but at the pleadings of my girlfriend, I tried to get back on my feet and pay back all the debt by working at a restaurant. However, I couldn't overcome the sense of defeat and guilt and had to drink myself to sleep each night to fight the insomnia. As I steadily lost weight and became skinny, I was forced to quit my job at the restaurant.
At the advice of my sister Deaconess Eun-young Shim, I began working at an insurance company in September 2002. But I showed no real results at work during my first 3 months there as I battled against anthrophobia and self abuse. That November, I married my girlfriend because we could not put it off any longer. And my mother moved in with us because she was stricken down by stroke. My wife had been full of hopes for a happy married life. But whenever I saw her sobbing, asking me, "Is this everything there is to our marriage?" From then on, there was no more laughter in my life. I didn't have an ounce of will or desire to continue living. I told myself I would give up on everything in life, and began thinking about committing suicide.

Receiving Prayer from Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee

As I consumed myself in thinking, 'This is why people kill themselves,' I remembered my sister's face on which there was always a bright smile. I also remembered the faces of my co-workers who were deacons and deaconesses at Manmin Joong-ang Church and who always seemed to have the highest sales records. Feeling that I had nothing else to lose, I thought, 'Why not to go to church one last time?' and called my sister. I attended the last "Friday All-night Service" of 2002 and received Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee's "Prayer for the Sick" from the pulpit. In my heart, I yelled out to God. "If You're alive, please save me!" At that moment, my shoulders were stretched out wide and backwards all of a sudden and I felt like my body was caught up in a flame. The very next day, I realized that my depression, difficulty in digestion, gastric ulcer, and insomnia had been healed. Hallelujah!
After experiencing the healing of all my diseases by a single prayer of the Senior Pastor, I could sleep well for the first time in a very long while. All I wanted to do was go to church. When the message was proclaimed, I wasn't aware of how fast the time flew by. I could believe in every word I heard. I used to be always introvert, timid, and idol-worshipping but now, I desperately hope and expect to be renewed.
The parish pastor and parish members visited me to teach me about God in detail as I began diligently attending all worship services. After I began a life of prayer, I could feel my facial muscles moving, soon found myself smiling again, and gained over 20 pounds in 3 months' time. After my first sale since beginning my work at the insurance company, I received my first paycheck, and gave God the whole tithe. I was jealous of nobody in the world.

Overflowing Grace at Home and Work

I always kept in mind that everything I had done was not by my might but only by God's help. In heartfelt gratitude for the Senior Pastor's earnest prayer for me, I wanted to help him financially. From then on, the magnitude of God's work, if anything, surely exceeded my wildest imagination. My monthly income increased from $1,000 to $3,000, $5,000, $6,000, $8,000, and even up to $10,000. When the Senior Pastor was to go abroad to conduct overseas crusades, I fasted for 3 or 7 days and gave the "Mission Offerings" and God would pay me back immediately in abundance. After giving God the "Mission Offering" and receiving the Senior Pastor's prayer last December, I came in first place in the Seoul district office at Shin-han Life Insurance Agency in terms of sales and could give glory to God.
In gratitude for His grace, I am currently carrying my God-given duty as group leader and managing cell leader while my wife serves as cell leader.
