A Story of a Family Abounding in Love and Blessing

Deaconess Jin-young Lee (5-21 st Parish, 2-5 Women's Mission) I was born in Kwangju, Kyong-ki Province and attended mission schools but lived much of my life without any particular spiritual experience. I married my entrepreneur husband in 1984 and began looking for a church after having been evangelized by my mother-in-law. At the time, my husband had been attending church but did not possess true faith. Led to Manmin after My Husband's Business Bankrupted When a massive financial crisis swept through much of Asia in the late 1990s, my husband's business was caught in its effect and subsequently bankrupted. In the ensuing days and months after this abrupt change in my life, I struggled to make ends meet everyday. Then in February 1998, I registered at Manmin Joong-ang Church and gained hope in life as I listened to Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee's messages during the early days of my life in Christ. I met the living God in the lives of brothers and sisters in Christ who were healed of a variety of diseases and in the testimonies of those who received His answers in the most difficult and desperate of situations. From the depths of my heart flowed joy and gratitude. After some time, along with the wife of my husband's younger brother Deaconess In-sook Park, I began imploring to God in tears for an opportunity to spread the gospel of sanctification in the Yichon area I was living at the time. While it was possible to attend Friday All-night and Sunday Services at the main sanctuary in Seoul, the Yi-chon area was in need of a branch sanctuary where people could gather for the Daniel Prayer Meeting and Wednesday Evening Services. My husband readily lent us his empty office and Deaconess Park and I met there every night to pray together. Blessings in Flesh and Spirit as We Strove for Establishment of a Branch Sanctuary Then on April 29, 1999, the Yi-chon Branch Sanctuary was founded. After offering God the Founding Service in unspeakable joy and gratitude, I endeavored to give Him the "Construction Offering" despite the difficult financial situations at home. God was delighted with our small devotion and beginning in 2000, He began blessing my husband's business and allowed it to recover. In addition, God led the members of my immediate and extended family to Manmin and has nurtured them into spiritual warriors. The youngest sister of my husband, Pastor Mi-jung Cho is currently serving the church as parish pastor, a cousin of my husband Pastor Young-sook Cho as assistant parish pastor, and the oldest sister of my husband Deaconess Mi-ja Cho as prayer devotee and a member of the Evangelization Brigade. Deaconess In-sook Park, chosen to serve as district leader this year, received the "Best Sub-district Leader Award of 2005" in the 21 st Parish while I am serving the church as a cell leader and one of the commanders on the Evangelization Brigade. All such blessings have been made possible because of my mother-in-law Deaconess Yeon-keum Kim's unceasing prayer and fasting throughout more than 40 years of her life in Christ. I'm truly grateful to lead a Christian life alongside the 23 members of my extended family. Overflowing Blessings at Home and Business On the spot where my husband's office was located – the same office he had lent Deaconess Park and me to pray for the Yi-chon branch sanctuary – God worked for the construction of an apartment complex to take place. Then on January 16, 2005, all our family had an opportunity to greet Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, who has taught us true happiness through his messages of life, and received his prayer of blessing. "As much as they have sown and done, bless all their family. Bless their workplaces also." After receiving prayer, my husband participated in the construction of other apartment projects and prior to the completion of construction, almost all of the 418 units were sold. Today, his firm is one of the steadiest construction companies in the Yi -chon area and has even been reported by the media. Our second son Byong-chul came in first place at a recent high-school golf tournament. Hallelujah! After participating "The 28-day Special Prayer Meeting" held late last year, the oldest sister of my husband Deaconess Mi-ja Cho was able to sell her house she had purchased for about US $30,000 at about US $125,000, while her husband Deacon Dong-yong Park received the blessing of having his salary multiplied after his diligent work. Deaconess Young-shim Lee (5-17 th Parish, 2-3 Women's Mission) To me nowadays, everything looks beautiful and everyone is precious. This is because, until not too long ago, I was at the doorstep of death but am now leading a renewed life after having been healed by God's power. No Hope of Recovery after Collapsing from Cerebral Hemorrhage On April 19, 2005, the back of my head began hurting and it was nearly impossible to keep my head up while preparing breakfast. Then all of a sudden everything in my sight became dim and began spinning. I did all I could to keep steady but ended up losing consciousness. I later found out that my mother-in-law and younger son Young-min had called for an ambulance and I was carried to an intensive care unit at Daelim Saint Mary's Hospital in Daelim-dong, Young-deung-po District, where I was diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage. "She has no chance of recovery," said a doctor after evaluating my condition. Even if she does recover, she'll lose her speech and be paralyzed on one side of her body." Just as the doctor predicted, I remained on the hospital bed unconscious with my arms and legs paralyzed, pretty much like a log. Upon hearing the news, my mother, two sisters, and sister-in-law began clinging to God in repentance on my behalf and rending their own hearts in repentance as well. For they had seen time and again the countless works of healing manifested through Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, my family believed that God would heal me. MRI scans ( intraventricular hemorrhage ) 1. After receiving prayer - Only remnants remain Regaining Consciousness by Prayer With the aid of my family on Friday, April 22, I was carried to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee by ambulance and received his prayer. "God, work in her so that she'll regain consciousness!" I learned later that after finishing his prayer, the Senior Pastor said to me, "Wake up right away," and in firm conviction of God's answer and my recovery, my family immediately took all necessary steps for me to be discharged from the hospital. Upon returning home, I realized that I had somehow regained consciousness, and two days later I could feel that I had enough strength to lift my fingers. On the morning of Sunday, April 24, I received another prayer from the Senior Pastor, who was even more brokenhearted at my suffering than ever before. After earnestly imploring to God for my recovery, he said to me, "Wake up soon." The very next morning, I began lifting my fingers, none of which I could even move until the day before, and I was given strength to stand up on my own the following day. Rending My Heart in Repentance By the consolation and prayer of Grand Parish Pastor Joong-won Lee, Parish Pastor Jeon-hwan Cha, and members of my district, I discovered I had relied on people and worldly methods more than God and such untruths were in me as a sense of attachment for others, greed, tendency to become hot-tempered, and anger. When Elder Ik-sun Yoo told me to "Get up and walk," after worshipping together with him and when I obeyed, I was given strength in the legs and could begin taking steps. Yet, I developed thrombus in my left leg and learned after another evaluation that the vessels in my chest and legs were clogged. Committing everything to God, I began looking for the sins I had committed from my heart and my thought. I also searched my heart to see whether or not I had sinned when one of Korea's broadcasting companies made a distorting and biased report against Manmin back in 1999. I thoroughly rent my heart in repentance for merely having been an onlooker and not aided the church and the senior pastor even though I was a church worker, for having disappointed God as I doubted and asked myself, 'Why are such things happening to our church?' And finally I realized that all that was an expression of God's love that seeks to lead me to New Jerusalem. 1. Deaconess Young-shim Lee receiving prayer with her family after repentance 2. On April 30, 2005, all my family prepared ourselves with fasting and offering, and received the Senior Pastor's prayer for the third time. "Strengthen all organs in the body, and strength all the brain cells and nerves. May God's light dwell on her!" I felt a strong flame of fire striking my body at the time of the prayer. I realized that on the way home, the pain in my left leg had disappeared and that I could straighten it and walk comfortably. Hallelujah! My older son Young-doo couldn't contain himself from amazement. "The Senior Pastor's power is truly astonishing. I saw with my own eyes and experienced firsthand what I had only heard about!" As I repented each time I was reminded of my sins after my healing, God strengthened me more and more and I could soon resume my God-given duty as district leader. This past January, I underwent a CT and MRI to give glory to God with accurate medical data, and their results revealed that I have been made whole again. The driver of the ambulance that took me to the hospital when I collapsed could only confess, "It's unbelievable that you're well again only after receiving a pastor's prayer. What a wonderful mystery!" The doctor who had diagnosed me with cerebral hemorrhage could only be dumbfounded. I give all thanks and glory to my Father the living God who causes all things to work together for good, and also give heartfelt thanks to Senior Pastor Rev. My Son's Appendicitis Has Been Healed Not by Surgery but by God's Power!

"I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me" (Proverbs 8:17). Deacon Joon-hyuk Kim (Music teacher, Sa-pa Elementary School, Masan City) Beginning on Saturday, November 5, 2005, my son Young-ho, a 6th-grader, began vomiting, came down with a high fever, and complained of a stomachache. As he confessed his faith in God and wished to receive Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee's "Prayer for the Sick" recorded on the automated telephone message. Young-ho's condition seemed to improve each time he received the "Prayer" but he didn't make a complete recovery. My wife and I looked back at our Christian lives as we listened again to the Senior Pastor's series on "The Message of the Cross." We repented of not having led zealous and passionate Christian lives that were pleasing in His sight. A week passed and my wife and I noticed that Young-ho's right abdomen had swollen and become hardened. On Saturday, November 12, we took him to a nearby hospital for sonography. The doctor diagnosed Young-ho with appendicitis and told us that unless he was operated immediately, our son's condition would take a turn for the worse. However, remembering Young-ho's confession of faith, I told the doctor, "We are Christian and we seek to be healed by God's power." He advised us that too much time had already passed and told us to come back if Young-ho became worse. After speaking with Rev. Sang-tae Kim on the phone and receiving his prayer that evening, all three of us could have a good night's sleep. The next day, we received the Senior Pastor's "Prayer for the Sick" on the television screen and a little later, we realized that Young-ho's fever and stomachache had disappeared. Hallelujah! On that Sunday, Young-ho said he was hungry, asked for some food, and ate it very well. He even exercised by climbing up and down three flights of stairs. As my wife and I saw all this, we were convinced Young-ho had been perfectly healed. On Monday, November 14, we went back to the hospital for another evaluation. "My goodness," the doctor was stunned. "Appendicitis has completely disappeared! How could this be? Wow, he must be one really powerful pastor!" Even he ended up recognizing the power of God. In Our Lord, Laughter is Heard at Home Again!

"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit" (John 12:24). Deaconess Soon-im Kang (4-12th Parish, 2-1 Women's Mission) Led to Manmin in the Midst of Family Discord After many years of courtship, my husband and I married in March 1989 with our hearts full of hopes for a blissful marriage. After the wedding, however, my husband and I had to live with his sister in a one-room apartment and the stress I was under from the conflict I had with my mother-in-law ultimately brought me to gastroenteropathy. My husband also loved spending time with his friends so that he either often came home really late or brought his friends back home for more drinking and gambling. As all my hopes for a blissful marriage were beginning to be shattered and I was searching for a true church and a true shepherd, from the owner of a nearby supermarket, I came across truly good news. "I remember you told me how you used to go to church before. At my church, people call out to God in prayer every night and God's works of signs and wonders are visible all the time. Why don't you go there with me?" I couldn't believe my ears! There really was a kind of church I'd always been longing to go! Tasting True Happiness by the Word On September 9, 1990, my husband and I followed Deaconess Yeon-hee Kim, the owner of that local supermarket, to Manmin Joong-ang Church and became registered members. I was comforted in the heart and felt like I had gained a guidebook of life as I listened to the messages of Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee. For my husband, however, it was a little different. On one Sunday, I saw a family sitting in the pew and worshipping together and it was one of the most beautiful sights I had seen. "Lord," I prayed. "I would be most grateful if I can worship You with my husband at my side!" As I began diligently praying for family evangelization, I tried to understand and embrace my husband even when he came home late and tried to serve him even more faithfully. I visited the Men's Mission group to which my husband belonged, paid the dues on his behalf, requested their visits, and did all I could for his salvation. The Men's Mission did visit us many times and prayed for our family. My Husband Gains True Faith Then one day, there was an opportunity by which my husband could come to possess faith. When he coughed up hard and began vomiting blood, we went to see a doctor, who in turn told us that my husband was suffering from the 3rd stage of pulmonary tuberculosis. As my husband found himself in utter despair, I made sure to testify to the almighty God the Healer and tell him testimonies of countless people who'd experienced healing after receiving prayer from Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee by faith. My husband, who at first had relied on medication, now began clinging to God by rending his heart in repentance for not having believed in Him. He stopped taking the medication and, as we attended the nightly "Daniel Prayer Meeting" and called out to God in prayer, he came to believe that he, too, could be healed. After receiving the Senior Pastor's prayer, he has been completely healed of his pulmonary tuberculosis. Today, my husband not only attends all worship services but he's also become a man of prayer and a faithful worker. That illness served as a precious opportunity of blessing for him to gain true faith and become a new person. Our two daughters are growing up well in the Lord and are leading faithful lives. Our older daughter Shin-hye has recently received an "Exemplary Student Award" from school while Yea-eun is magnifying God as a member of "The White Stone Choir." Giving thanks and praising God never stop at our home and we are further giving glory to God as our neighbors and many others in our lives often speak of us as "that family filled with joy." Extended Family Evangelized = More Joy! In a sincere desire of spreading this kind of joy and peace to members of my extended family, I prayed all the more earnestly for family evangelization and at every opportunity I had, I told them about the works of God's power taking place at Manmin. Upon hearing such news, they began opening up their hearts one by one. My mother Keumi Yoo, now senior deaconesses at Manmin, who is the wife of the only son of nine generations in the head family, practiced ancestor worship 12 months of the year. Thus she could not think of believing in God itself. She was subject to constant difficulties and at such times, I preached the gospel to her all the more boldly. "Mother," I would say. "If you believe in the Living God, you can lead a blessed life!" As I visited her frequently, helping with her work around the house, and served her diligently – just as I had learned from the Senior Pastor – my mother ended up registering at Manmin. She had been confined to a wheelchair after breaking the bone of her ankle, but after receiving the Senior Pastor's prayer and subsequent healing, my mother is now leading a faithful life in Christ and serving as Group leader in the 4th Women's United Mission. After witnessing our mother thus transformed, the family of my younger sister Deaconess Soon-hwa Kang has come back to the arms of the Lord. This was followed by the families of the older brother of my wife Deacon Jea-heung Koo and my younger brother Deacon Sung-hee Kang. Even my in-laws have been evangelized. I shall forever be grateful for this. About 20 of our extended family members now attend Manmin Joong-ang Church and most of them have become faithful workers in various capacities. I am also serving God as sub-district leader in my parish, sub-district leader and group leader in Women's Mission, a member of the Perfume Chorus, and usher. My Hearing Has Been Restored after 23 Years and I Am Now Living a New Life as a Praise Servant

Deaconess Ah-young Kim, (1-4 th Parish, 1-4 Women's Mission) One day in my childhood years, a very playful friend of mine held an explosive close to my left ear and smashed it with a stone. As soon as I heard a "Bang!" I lost my focus for a while and soon came to realize that I could no longer hear through my left ear. When conversing with others, I had to place my right ear as close as I could to the lips of the speaker and pay closest attention. I could not hear any whispers or murmurs. On top of all this, because of extreme poverty at home, I couldn't even dream of any medical treatment. Life suddenly became extremely difficult but I continued to live it without ever showing my difficulty. Carrying Out My God-given Duty of Praising in "The Light and Salt Mission" After having been preached the gospel by a coworker, in 1989 I began my life in Christ in "The Light and Salt Mission" (an interdenominational mission serving Christians who even work on the Lord's Day) at Manmin Joong-ang Church. I began praising after participating in a praise competition held by the Mission in 1993, but it wasn't easy to rely only on one of my ears to tune up. In practice, however, I rejoiced in praising my God who knew all of my deficiencies, with all my heart. Losing My Hearing in the Right Ear on Top of All This ... After dabbling in water during the summer of 2004, an inflammation developed in my left ear and water began streaming out of it. The ear also began to reek. I didn't think that much of it at the time but a year later, dark, bloody pus began streaming out of the ear. I was diagnosed with cholesterol granuloma (a type of inflammation that can be triggered by the bleeding within the ear or the progressive otitis media) and advised to undergo an operation right away. Yet, I possessed the kind of faith by which I believed that the healing by God's power was a lot faster and safer than my reliance on medicine. But then as of September 22, 2005, I was no longer able to hear through my right ear. I could not hear the conversations that went on around me, the praise of the choir, or the message proclaimed during the service. I felt like I was watching an endless silent film. I was forced to quit my job as a telemarketer. Being Able to Hear through the Right Ear Again after Attending Meetings at Manmin Prayer Center Instead of relying on hospitals and medicine of this world, I decided to take this opportunity to examine my stagnant faith. As I attended "The Divine Healing Meeting for the Sick" held at the Manmin Prayer Center, I clung to God with a three-day fasting. Although I had been a Christian for the previous 17 years, I still had the heart to hate others, become jealous and envious of others, become disappointed, feel discontent, and complain. As I remembered these one by one, I thoroughly rent my heart in repentance. On the last day of my 3-day fasting on Tuesday, September 27, 2005, after delivering a message at "The Meeting for the Sick," Rev. Mikyung Lee prayed for me with the handkerchief on which Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee had prayed. At that moment, I felt like my body was bursting up in a flame and that, along with the snivel, all the repulsive matters were being discharged from my body. Immediately I could hear through my right ear again. The Left Ear Opened by the Prayer of Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee A few days later, prior to the Friday All-night Service, I testified to my healing to the Senior Pastor, who prayed for me again with all his heart. "May the inflammation be burned by the fire of the Holy Spirit and heal this ear! May the ear be opened! I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!" After receiving the prayer, I went home to rest for a while. As I had always done, I cleaned out my left ear but no bloody pus came out of it. I couldn't be sure of the healing so during a time of fellowship after the first part of the Service, I put my hand over the right ear and realized I could hear other brothers and sisters conversing through my left ear. Hallelujah! The God of love has renewed my life in Christ and healed my left ear, which had been shut tight for the previous 23 years, and even my right ear, which had also been closed for a few days. As a firsthand witness to His power, I hope to live the rest of my life as a praise servant testifying to the Living God. I give all thanks and glory to God and also give my heartfelt thanks to Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee for his prayer.

[A Window to Manmin] Looking after the Neglected as a Light of the World

Deacon Chihun Lee (Secretary, Council on Correction & Education at Young-deung-po Detention House) On Friday, December 30, 2005, Deacon Chi-hun Lee received an award from the Attorney General of the Republic of Korea for his service towards the development of the administration on the correctional service. After losing both of his parents at an early age, Deacon Lee had always taken great interest in taking care of the neglected. He became an official correctional officer working for the Ministry of Justice. His work consists of visiting prison inmates who have been abandoned and left behind even by their own family members. Through friendly chats, Deacon Lee spreads the love of God and provides the inmates with such necessities as socks or underwear. Deacon Lee says he finds his work most rewarding when he sees prison inmates accept the Lord, return to their families, and begin their lives anew. For his faithful service, Deacon Lee was promoted to the position of Secretary on the Council on Correction & Education at Young-deung-po Detention House in 2004. As Vice President of "The Correction & Welfare Mission" at Manmin Joong-ang Church, Deacon Lee has worked with devotion towards more effective management of inmates' solicitude as well as reform on correctional facilities. Deacon Lee's heartfelt service is reflected through a number of rewards he received from such organizations as The Guro Council on the Elderly, Young-deung-po Detention House, The Seoul City Council, and the mayor of Seoul. With the recent reward from the Attorney General, Deacon Lee has been able to give greater glory to God.

As I Showed God My Faith Even in Times of Economic Depression, He Gave Me Blessings at My Business

Deacon Hee-suk Suh (President, Suhgun Industries; Assistant Cell Leader, 7-28th Parish) I have always enjoyed reading and one day in 1994, from my wife Deaconess Keumsoon Lee, I received a book as a gift. It was Tasting Eternal Life before Death written by Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee. With this book, I came to know about Manmin Joong-ang Church and its Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, and at the advice of my wife in May, I attended "The Two-week Special Revival Meeting with Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee" and became a registered member. Without possessing true faith but just for the peace at home, I went home only after the Morning Services on Sundays. At the time I had a steady job, and was sure that I had created a happy family environment, so I did not feel like I was lacking in anything. Growing Faith with the Attention and Love of My Wife Then in December 2002, male members of the 7-28th Parish had a regional worship service with Rev. Soojin Lee at my home. Her message poured out overflowing grace over me and my life in Christ took a new turn. I began faithfully obeying the Lord's Day, giving the whole tithes, and participating in the nightly Daniel Prayer Meeting. My wife also helped me in every way she could to help my faith grow. As a district leader in the Yong-in, Kyungki Province region, she is faithfully carrying out her duties of nurturing members to whom she has been assigned and for the revival of her parish. Whenever I see her caring for the needy and neglected families and patients in the love of Christ, I am deeply touched. Then one day in May 2003, my wife told me that she was going to visit the Senior Pastor with the members of her parish and asked me if I could give them a ride. As I got to meet with the Senior Pastor in person, I could sense the beautiful aroma of goodness emanating from him. "Ah! He's so humble and filled with love!" Facing Difficulties at Work from the Economic Depression In the meantime, for about 8 years beginning in 1997, I had been working as a designer for model trains that were the baseline in designing actual trains, and supplying my designs to about 20 companies within Korea. Then my older brother, who at the time was involved in producing and exporting model trains, asked me to work with him when he faced financial difficulties at his own business. I accepted his invitation, assumed all his debts and goods in stock, and somehow managed the company. Then with a decline in the exchange rate against the dollar and the economic depression that began in November 2004, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. I immediately started looking for a way out and decided to dispose about 150 model trains in stock (worth tens of thousands of dollars) as early as I could. I e-mailed the buyers for about a year but I either failed to get a reply or only got the e-mail titled "No Intention to Purchase." I was forced to give up disposing the trains in stock and continue managing the company. Receiving Prayer of Blessings by Faith On September 18, 2005, I visited the Senior Pastor to at Chuseok [Editor's Note: the Harvest Moon Festival (on the 15th of August by the lunar calendar)]. Before the visit, for some reason I thought of taking some of the model trains with me. I felt that the Senior Pastor would ask me "What do you do for work?" and wanted to save even a minute of his time. Three minutes before the meeting ended, the Senior Pastor indeed asked me what I did for living. I showed him a few model trains and he showed great interest in them and prayed for my business. "Bless his work and also give him material blessings. May the light be on him! I pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen." After receiving prayer, my heart was filled with joy. Then 2 days later on September 20, I went to work, checked my e-mail, and what I read next on my screen was utterly astonishing. Buyers from the United States had sent me e-mail, asking me if I still had any model trains left in stock. I checked the time at which the American buyers had sent the e-mail and learned that it was a few hours after the Senior Pastor had prayed for me. I immediately prayed to God, giving Him thanks, and took pictures of the model trains with a digital camera and sent my reply. The next day, the new e-mail said that the buyers wanted to buy all the model trains and I was able to sell all my model trains in stock, none of which I could sell during the previous year, in one day. The orders keep coming in to this day. The Increase in Sales despite the Depression By this experience, I have come to possess faith to rely on the faithful God of my shepherd. In running a business, I strive to live by what the Senior Pastor has taught all believing entrepreneurs: "Pray. Walk on the right path. Do not be greedy but in goodness, be at peace with all people." One time, an American buyer who was one of my best customers wanted to inspect my products on the Lord's Day and asked me to be there. However, the only thing in my mind was the fact that I had to keep the Lord's Day holy. I committed everything to God and did keep the Lord's Day holy. God was pleased with my faith and paid me back with even greater blessings. Instead of the orders being cancelled, the buyer told me he was impressed with my designs and asked me to continue doing business with him. Hallelujah! As I live by God's Word, my company has been making greater profits and my tithes have also been increasing. There's more to my blessings. I am so grateful that my parents and my parents-in-law have also registered at Manmin Joong-ang Church and Suh-san Manmin Church and begun their lives in Christ. I give all thanks and glory to Father God and also thank the Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee for his earnest prayer of love.

She began scratching them and soon all the blisters made her legs looked like she had suffered from a terrible burn. My wife and I took turns in sleeping at night to prevent Yea-ji from scratching her legs, but it was of no use. We even tied together the arms of our daughter so that she would not scratch her legs. Sister Jookyung Han (Hallelujah Praising Team/2nd Canaan Mission) Diagnosed with Severe Pulmonary Tuberculosis Since childhood, I had always loved to sing praise songs and aspired to serve God with praising. God answered my prayer and I became a member of the Hallelujah Praising Team of Manmin Joong-ang Church's Performing Arts Committee, and gave glory to God by helping Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee with his ministry through my praising. As I always had firsthand experiences of God's marvelous power whenever I went on overseas mission trips, I was deeply touched by the genuine love of Rev. Dr. Lee who shed much tears in prayer for countless souls all over the world. Through that experience, I vowed to devote myself only to magnifying the Lord. Then in November 2003, while preparing for performances at "The 2003 Russia Miracle Healing Festival with Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee," I felt unusually fatigued. I lost strength in my body while dry coughs continued without an end. I had lost so much weight that in the end, at the advice of people around me, I went for a diagnosis. "It's severe pulmonary tuberculosis," the doctor told me. "Unless you are hospitalized and begin receiving treatment right away, the tubercle bacillus could spread to your brain, liver, and kidney, and you could die. Because your lungs are damaged beyond repair, I don't believe you'll be able to sing again." Discovering Myself and Rending My Heart in Repentance My condition continued to deteriorate. Each time I coughed, I felt as though my ribs were being shattered and someone was stabbing me with a dagger. Breathing became an excruciating task. As I vomited whenever I saw food and was unable to sleep from hyperthermia, I lost much weight. On four occasions I threw up blood but as I drank the Sweet Water of God's power each time by faith, I experienced the gush of bleeding stop. My torment was not limited to my flesh. For other people can be infected by the tubercle bacillus carried in the air, I had to be completely isolated from the rest of my family and everyone else. In the loneliness and "the looks" of people I received in the midst of God's test I endured, I discovered within myself arrogance and tasted discouragement and frustration for the first time in my life that had always been filled with people's love. Like Job from the Bible, I'd come to realize that I was discovering the evil in my nature which I could not have unearthed on my own. Coming to Believe in God's Power That Can Even Raise the Dead From the depths of my heart, I realized what a great blessing it was to have good health and how precious it was to be able to breathe, pray, and praise. Although I had grown so weak to a point that I was unable to take a single step, on Fridays and Sundays I attended worship services with the assistance of people around me. I felt as though a very thin yet firm rope was pulling me to the sanctuary, and I just knew it was the Lord's intercessory prayer and the shepherd's prayer of love and tears. Then one day, I felt that God could take me at anytime He saw fit so I made a request to my mother. "Do not put me in a coffin when I die," I told her. "But bring me to the Senior Pastor. When he prays for me, I can come back to life." I also prayed earnestly to God my Father. "Please give me a chance, Father. Please give me one last chance to render to my shepherd and my family for their tearful prayer and all the brothers and sisters for their love and grace and to praise You. Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer On the last Friday of January 2005 was the monthly divine healing meeting during the second part of the Friday All-night Service. I participated in the Service on the Internet at home because my condition had deteriorated so terribly that I was unable to go to church that evening. After the Service, the Senior Pastor visited me at home. As he sowed faith in me and prayed for me, I could escape danger. The Senior Pastor had been led in his heart, 'If I don't pray for her, she could die,' and visited me in the early hours of that Saturday. After I thus escaped death, some time in March 2005 I'd come to learn that the Senior Pastor was harboring me in his prayer, and the very next day I experienced something truly remarkable. I told my father, "Dad, I want to have some chicken!" I could begin eating - and eating well - the food that had been so abominable in my sight. I could definitely feel my body strengthened while the frequency of coughing gradually decreased and eventually stopped without my knowing. I also saw the Senior Pastor twice in my dream. In the first, he prayed for me to be strengthened and cleansed, and in the second one he carried me beside quiet waters in which I washed my body. An Astonishing Miracle of Complete Healing In order to medically confirm this wondrous healing, in May 2005 I underwent a medical-checkup and learned of the result three months later. "All tubercle bacillus have disappeared. Everything looks clean now." The doctor was stunned to see how healthy I had become again. As I left the hospital, I felt like I was walking on a cloud. A miracle beyond man's comprehension had just taken place. Hallelujah! I couldn't contain my excitement and went to the Senior Pastor's residence to give glory to God with the testimony of my healing. The Senior Pastor was all smiles and delighted in my healing more than I was. People who had always seen me being carried on backs of others seemed simply amazed while fellow Hallelujah Praising Team members also rejoiced with me, saying, "We knew you would overcome by your faith and come back to us!" Now a Devoted Praise Servant, Desiring Only for New Jerusalem During the Evening Service on September 4, 2005, I praised God alongside "Hallelujah" members for the first time since my healing. I hadn't planned on it but that day also happened to be my birthday. Father God had given me the best birthday present! On October 16, about 17 months after falling ill, I was able to magnify God with a solo performance. "Amazing grace! How sweet the sound! That saved a wretch like me!" Deacon Youngshik Hong (Doctorate of science, Men's mission leader of Daejeon Manmin Church) In the June of 1997, I was very busy in completing my Ph. D. paper working ay my college until late night. My wife was pregnant and burdened with her job, so she gave birth to a boy in just 7 months. The child had to live in an incubator 50 days. The baby showed the symptom of retarded brain When my wife left her newborn baby at the hospital, she felt discouraged. At that time her sister gave her a book "Tasting Eternal Life before Death." My wife was very touched after reading it, and attended the Friday All-night Service of Manmin Joong-ang Church with the desire of seeing Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, the author of the book. In the October of that same year, I flew to France for continual study with my wife and son. My son was so retarded in his growth in 7 months after birth, so I took him to the hospital. The doctor said he had been seriously damaged in his brain when he was born. Experiencing the healing of God at the revival meeting In the April of 1998, my wife was excited at the news of the 6th Two-week Special Revival Meeting and became certain that the child would be healed if we received the prayer with faith. So she came back home with the son and I also flew back in the next month. My son cried all the time because of the underdevelopment of his brain before we took him to the revival meeting, but when we received the prayer from Rev. Dr. Lee, my son stopped crying and the apples of his eyes were recovered to normal. Our faith grew up very quickly and my son gradually recovered good health. We flew again to France and finished my study that year. Then, we returned to Korea and registered at Manmin Joong-ang Church. My wife became pregnant a second time In the January of 1999, God let my wife have the second baby and then my first son became enervated and God took him to the kingdom of heaven. At first my wife and I were very sorrowful but we realized it was the delicate love of God and He had given us the best thing. We were really thankful to God from our deep heart. My parents told me that my wife and I had made all our efforts to let the son healed and prayed so eagerly at the revival meeting. And they began to attend the church. God gave us true faith through our first son who was born weak. And He healed him and let us have a happy time. Then He took him to heaven so that none of us would suffer pains anymore and gave us a new baby. How grateful to God we were! We prayed with faith and goodness for those who spread rumors about our dead son In the April of 1999, a woman called to my wife and asked her to give some advice about her nephew who was stricken with cerebral palsy. My wife allowed her to visit my house. The woman had no interest in my wife's testimony and asked in a doubting manner if our son had been really healed. And she said that my wife could no longer see her son who had been dead and asked my wife what she had felt at his death. My wife felt sorrowful for a moment but tried to testify to the living God and His blessing. Many broadcasters and pressmen gathered to film the 7th Two-week Revival Meeting just after a broadcasting station wrongfully broadcast about Manmin Joong-ang Church The woman, however, got up in a hurry and my wife said she wanted to help the boy who had been with the cerebral palsy, asked the woman to let her know the boy's home phone number. She hesitated and gave my wife a mobile number. Two days later I called to that number, but it was a wrong number. At that moment I had no idea that she had approached me with wicked purpose and with a hidden camera. In the May of 1999, I heard that a broadcasting station would broadcast my family story and watched it on TV. I was so surprised at its falsehood. The program said that they had visited my home in the November of 1998 and founded something wrong. They deleted the story of God's blessing and edited it wrongfully. My wife and I were shocked because her face was seen on TV without any notification and she was interviewed and filmed by a woman who concealed her identification and her hidden camera in an unlawful and one-sided way. But we tried to forgive them who disgraced us that way and to be thankful in everything as Rev. Dr. Lee had taught us. We were sorry for the fact that an official broadcasting station had treated a happy and religious couple as a miserable one on TV, and prayed that nobody would suffer pains because of that kind of mistreatment. God was pleased with our faith and my wife gave birth to the second son under God's protection from premature childbirth and in His blessing. Double blessings of childbirth and amazing employment In 1998 God blessed me to work as a researcher at the Korea University and in 2001 I was recruited with the best contract condition by Daeduk Research Complex. While living in Daejoen, I attended Daejoen Manmin Church and served the church as a cell leader. I tried to pray much more time and be faithful in all God's house. In 2005 God gave me a blessing to become chairman of men's mission. My parents' dream was for me to become a professor at a college, so I concentrated on the study on inorganic chemistry. I often felt I should have more time to study but sough for the kingdom of God because I have deep desire for saving souls. When I first chose to serve the Lord and take care of beginners in faith and then did my best to focus on my study. The blessing of new employment In the June of 2005, I found an announcement of the recruiting of a new professor by a university located in Seoul. Generally new professors on inorganic chemistry are recruited every two or three years and its competition is very serious. When that university recruited 5 in the early August, 14 applied and I was selected. And I passed the second examination where just three of the five applicants would be selected. At that time I believed God can give us anything we ask for if He permits. At the final interview test, I was asked of education philosophy. I answered we can bear good fruits when we endure everything in the right way, and I would teach students truth. In the late August I received the notification of employment. My dream came true! I give all thanks and glory to God who has blessed all my family to live a right Christian life and to prepare for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
